Barrel Oak Winery and Farm Taphouse

3623 Grove Ln, Delaplane, VA 20144

Driving Time from D.C. = 1hr 5 mins

Barrel Oak Winery invites you to 76 hillside picnic tables and hosts exciting weekly events for the family. The estate promotes a community atmosphere, and that always includes dogs. Enjoy stunning views from the blanket seating area and stop by on “Date Night” for an evening of live music, tiki torches, and delicious food. Party vibes take center stage on weekends, but you can find solitude when sipping on wine in the countryside during the week.

From the moment you enter the door, it’s clear that the staff takes pride in their dog-friendly policies. There are paw prints on the menu, puppies on the labels, and dogs can waltz inside with you. The winery even has an on-site animal rescue and holds charity events.

Due to COVID-19, the winery placed a new set of procedures to follow to ensure safety for all customers. Parties are limited to 10 guests, you’re not allowed to visit other tables, masks must be worn indoors, and bathrooms are frequently sanitized. Recent guests commented that the staff is doing an effective job of maintaining social distancing.

Breaux Vineyards

36888 Breaux Vineyards Ln, Purcellville, VA 20132

The outdoor spaces allow dogs who are leashed, vaccinated and have no history of aggressive behavior. To let your pooch run around, the Orleans Patio is reserved for dog-owning customers.

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the staff works diligently to create a safe environment for guests. Permission is required for groups eight or more, enforcement of social distancing, and staff members sanitize transaction spaces between uses. Recent guests mentioned that the property gives you plenty of room to social distance.

Keswick Vineyards

1575 Keswick Winery Dr, Keswick, VA 22947

Driving Time from D.C. = 2hrs 5 mins

About 20 minutes outside of Charlottesville, Keswick Vineyards is an award-winning, family-owned winery that once produced the best white wine in America. The mountains form a beautiful backdrop, and the vineyard hosts weekly fun-filled events that include live music and comedy shows.

Keswick Vineyards has become a mainstay for dog-owning wine lovers for their dog-friendly policies. Leashed dogs can escort you everywhere on the property, and the fenced-in dog park lets them run around leash-free. The vineyard also hosts Yappy Hours, where local animal shelters bring their dogs to socialize with families and other dogs.

The staff revamped their operating procedures to ensure customers have a safe and clean environment. Guests must wear facial coverings upon arrival and ordering, groups are limited to six and must maintain social distancing, and only disposable drinkware and menus are available. Past visitors mentioned that the outdoor seating arrangements were attentively placed to ensure proper distance.

Three Fox Vineyards

Driving Time from D.C. = 1hr 5 mins

Return to Delaplane with a trip to Three Fox Vineyards and let your pooch wander freely on 50 acres of Virginia countryside. Picnic tables adorn the hillside or along the adjacent creek for customers to enjoy the picturesque landscape. The Tuscan-style winery focuses on grapes that flourish in Italy, and you can join pet and family-friendly events each month.

Find a beautiful picnic spot to let your dog play and enter them into the “Dog of the Month” contest. The winner gets their pet’s picture displayed in the tasting room, a 10% discount on wine purchases for the month, and a reserved table in the vines.

The rustic estate gives patrons lots of space, and the staff has their temperatures checked daily. Staff members wear masks at all times, and guests must wear masks when ordering and inside bathrooms. Recent guests commented that the staff followed mask protocol, provided friendly service, and ensured there was proper social distancing on the property.
